Derby shoes vs Oxford
The main difference between an Oxford and a Derby is shown in the lacing system. On the Derby, the two eyelet tabs are partially attached to the shoe. This allows more freedom of movement and can be spread apart, making it easier to slip the foot into the shoe. This is called “open lacing”. Oxfords tend to have a much tighter fit than the derby because they feature a closed lacing system in which the quarters are sewn under the front part of the shoe.
